Joseph Brodoff Honored on National Philanthropy Day

November 2007 – At the 22nd annual National Philanthropy Day celebration, Joseph Brodoff received a very special award for the "Marilyn's Place" and "Marilyn's Place and Learning Center" cancer patient assistance programs he created and helps fund at Beth Israel and Roosevelt-St. Luke's Hospitals.

Joe created these programs to honor his wife Marilyn's life and memory after she passed away in 2002, and the programs have so far helped many hundreds of people receive extra care and information during their cancer treatments.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals created and sponsors National Philanthropy Day, and their Greater New York Chapter held an awards luncheon at the Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center that was hosted by John C. Whitehead, Chairman of the Goldman Sachs Foundation and 60 MINUTES and CBS News correspondent Lesley Stahl.

During this luncheon, Joe and other honorees were inducted into "The Honor Roll of New York's Finest Philanthropists."

Joe was nominated by Continuum Health Partners, which operates five historically distinguished hospitals including Beth Israel and Roosevelt-St. Luke's, "for being an individual whose philanthropy has made a key difference to our organization."
